1. The first unicorn was depicted in the Lascaux Caves in France… in 15,000 BCE! It actually had two horns, but people have been imagining unicorns for a really long time.

2. Marco Polo thought he discovered unicorns and called them quite ‘ugly brutes’... but they were actually rhinoceroses! He’s not the only explorer to have made such mistakes.
3. Unicorn ‘horns’ were super valuable. In 1590, German merchants actually sold these horns for 10x their weight in gold, around £18,000!

4. Did you know you can get a permit to hunt unicorns? In Michigan, you can actually get one from the Lake Superior State University!
