Beijing Ghost Bus

A late-night bus picks up three strange men in Qing Dynasty clothing one night on its way to Beijing Fragrant Hills. The bus and all its passengers—the driver, conductor, and one unidentified man—go missing, and are found three days later. Dead, in a state of decomposition far too advanced for the time they’ve been missing. Some stories say that the petrol tank was found filled with blood. And still others say that the bus was never found at all.

So much for late-night bus rides.

Frozen Hill People

An extremely poor family once lived in the mountains of Vermont, some 20 minutes out of Montpelier. To get through the harsh winter and the meager food supply they had to get… creative. The stories say that the family developed a way to freeze some of the family members alive, then thaw them out in the springtime to help with the planting. “Uncle William”, in his diary, describes the process of drugging the family members, freezing them, then thawing them out in the summer—good as new.

Really gives “chill out” a whole new meaning. Oh, and, don’t try this at home.

The Phantom Hitchiker

If you ever find yourself in Montana, on Highway 87, keep your eyes peeled. You might run into a man dressed in all denim—what witness accounts say is the most “aggressive phantom hitchiker” in the United States. People say that this phantom comes in the shape of a man dressed in denim, and that at first glance he looks like any normal hitchhiker. Except as you get closer, he’ll suddenly roll over the hood and across the windshield of your vehicle. Of course, when you go to check on him, he won’t be there. And there won’t be a single scratch on your car.

Drive safe, folks.

The Carter Brothers

Do these so-called vampire brothers still haunt New Orleans? In 1932, this demonic duo terrorized the city, taking victims to their home and draining them slowly of their blood, until one day one of their captives escaped and alerted the police. While many believe the Carter Brothers were actually just evil and insane, some say that the Carter Brothers are still out there. And if you walk by their old apartment on Royal Street, when the moon is at exactly the right angle, you might catch a glimpse of the vampiric Carter Brothers smoking on their balcony.
