On top of Lion Mountain sits the Yuejiang Tower. It commemorates the defeat of a 400,000-strong army by the first Ming Emperor with just 80,000 men, a victory that led to the creation of the Ming Dynasty.
It was never completed during his reign, however, and was only finished in 2001. The building is 52m (171 ft) high, with a distinct Ming architectural style and classic royal markings.
