Intended to protect doctors during the bubonic plague in the Middle Ages, the plague doctor mask was shaped to resemble the face and beak of a crow - ironically, a symbol of death.
The beak was filled with sweet smelling herbs and flowers, as it was believed it would counter miasma, or "evil" smells said to carry the plague.
Tragically, the mask was often the last thing a patient would see before dying. Thus it became an enduring symbol of darkness and death.
Bring the foreboding to any horror-themed party or game night with this plague doctor mask!
