Symbolizing the dark side, the Oni (鬼) is one of the many yōkai (supernatural monsters or spirits) in Japanese folklore.
They are usually depicted as a gigantic ogre, troll or demon with one or more horns growing out of their heads.
The name Oni derives from the word On (隠), meaning "to hide or conceal", due to the classic legends of Oni having the tendency "to hide behind things and not wishing to appear".
