Hugin (Old Norse Huginn) comes from the word 'hugr', which means thought. In Skaldic poetry of the Viking age, the raven Hugin is far more common used in various ways, compared to Munin. Warriors were called the 'reddener of Hugin's claws', battles were designated as 'Hugin's feast' and blood were described as 'Hugin's sea'.
