Every hero needs their symbol of victory, whether it be their trusty sword or a legendary artifact. For our chosen ones below, we love them so much that we even have them at the Hoard... kinda. Here are our picks for the coolest mythical weapons:
Created by the most skilled dwarven artisans in the cosmos, Gungnir was a spear that never missed. Odin, one of the most important Asgardian gods and the father of Thor, used this mighty spear to provoke and calm wars. So powerful was this symbol that if an oath were to be sworn upon it, it would be unbreakable. In Norse mythology, Gungnir, meaning the "swaying one", is also known as the Spear of Destiny.

As the Chinese legend goes, the immortal monkey, Sun Wukong, journeyed deep into the underwater Kingdom of Ao, searching for a weapon that complimented his might but nothing impressed him. Eventually, he found an ancient iron pillar that was used to measure the ocean’s depths. Initially too big when he grabbed it, he wished for it to be smaller and it did so. Capable of shrinking and enlarging, the staff follows the command of its owner, becoming Sun Wukong’s signature weapon. It is said that, when not in use, the Monkey shrinks it to a size small enough for him to tuck it behind its ears.

The most famous weapon of the Norse God of Thunder and lightning, Thor’s hammer was capable of great destructive power. It is said to be the most feared weapon in the Nine Realms, capable of flattening mountains with one strike. It was used to protect his people against evil, violence, and the fires of heaven. Fun fact: In classic mythology, there’s actually no mention of the hammer's actual shape or appearance but historical interpretations vary greatly from the one depicted by the comics and films.
Our Mjolnir-inspired necklace has a little bit of both interpretations. See it here.
This three-pronged spear is probably the most recognizable weapon on our list. The great God of the Sea’s powerful trident could cause tsunamis and earthquakes alike. It is said to be forged by cyclops and is capable of controlling all forms of water. The Roman counterpart of Poseidon, Neptune, is said to have struck the Earth to produce the first-ever warhorse with his Trident. Today, this weapon is featured in various modern media and has become an unforgettable symbol of the sea.
We have a necklace of the most iconic oceanic symbol here.
Of course, we have to mention the famous Excalibur. As the legend goes, the "magical" sword was forged in "another world" and put in a stone. It was said that the one who manages to retrieve the sword from the stone would be King and so, it was pulled by a very young Arthur. Some versions of this legend say that the sword was kept by the mystical Lady of the Lake who gifted it to Arthur while other versions say that this was the second Excalibur, the "true" one. This was after the one drawn from stone broke during battle. Either way, there is no denying that the sword is a magical piece and a symbol of righteousness as much as it is of power.
