Tarot Cards: The Major Arcana (Part 4)

Tarot Cards: The Major Arcana (Part 4)

2 minute read

Greetings, fellow fans of all things mystical.

Welcome to Part 4 our series about the Major Arcana of the Tarot (if you’re just joining us, you can catch up before continuing; here are Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.)

This week we’ll be taking a close look at the 15th through 18th cards of the Major Arcana. These are some good ones, so buckle up!

Temperance

This card symbolizes the virtues of patience, moderation, and self-restraint. It reminds us that change takes time, but promises it will be worth the wait.

When you see the Temperance card during a reading, it’s a sign that you should tune into your feelings and remain present. If you’re going through hard times, hang in there — things will get better.

The Devil

This devil doesn’t wear Prada —  in fact, in many versions of the Tarot deck he’s not wearing much of anything. The Devil represents temptation, indulgence, and pleasures of the flesh.

Despite the religious baggage carried by its namesake, the Devil’s appearance in a reading is neither a positive or negative sign. It simply reminds us that earthly pleasures (like sex and chocolate) are among life’s great joys — though they may also come with consequences.

The Tower

Sorry, but if this card shows up in your reading it’s rarely good news. It’s usually interpreted as a foreboding sign of events to come.

The Tower also represents destruction, and may indicate the impending end of a bad relationship or job. The coming changes may cause you pain, but ultimately may be a good thing.

The Star

If the Tower was a major bummer, the Star is the antidote. This card represents hope, optimism, creativity, and healing.

When you draw the Star in a reading, the fates are telling you to take some time to heal your personal wounds — literal and figurative. Get back in touch with your inner child and focus on creative pursuits.

We’ll be back next week with Part 5!

In our final installment of this series, we will look at the final four cards of the Major Arcana. See you then!
